Posted on Tue, 6 Jun 2017
Question: I keep getting heavy nosebleed on the right side of my nose. The blood just pours out. I lean my head backward and pinch my nose. Sometimes it slows it down. This can go on for about 45 minutes. To day is the 3rd day. It just comes on without warning. No headache, no lightheadedness. I am 77 next month I will be 78. I weigh about 124 lbs and am about 5' 5' inches.

Brief Answer:
Needs a blood pressure to be checked

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

High blood pressure is a very common reason in your case.

For the congestion in the nose, you may take following medications:
Saline nasal spray,
Oral antihistaminic tablet like Cetrizine.

Avoid coughing or blowing your nose forcefully.
Avoid cleaning your nose forcefully.

It would be advisable to consult an ENT specialist doctor to have a nasal endoscopy done to find out the cause.
If blood pressure is increased, then a physician doctor needs to be consulted.

Hope this answers your question.I would be happy to answer you in case of any further questions.Take care.
