Question: Hi...I have been having pain in my right knee for quite a while. I do cross training 3 times a week and run 4-5 days a week at 3-5 miles each run..I want to run a marathon in April..(my one and done marathon). When I sit or lay for more than 1/2 hour it pains me a lot to move it...I have to lift it with my hands..but once I move it it is better. I also have pain when pushing down on my leg to get into shoes. Advil helps a lot. I also began doing hip exercises and I am not feeling relief yet. thanks for your time. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are concerning...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Based on what I read, you seem be to in considerable pain along with some stiffness in the knee. Perhaps they may be related to arthritic changes. Alternatively it could be secondary to knee support - meniscus / ligament injuries. I will insist you visit an orthopedic surgeon for careful knee examination. Battery of tests, ESR, CRP and X-ray / MRI of knee to begin with are necessary to rule out aforementioned possibilities. It would be better to see the doctor before you participate in the marathon.

Hope this helps.

Regards
