Hello
Thanks for the query
I understand your concern and it must be debilitating to have been sick and have a lot of pain. I need a few more details from you in order to help you
1. Where exactly on the left side of the chest do you have pain? Is it dull aching or sharp? Does it increase while taking in air?
2. Do you have fever?
3. Can you please elaborate on what exactly you mean by 'sick'? DO you have fever?
4. Can please tell me where the scar was? What was the inital CT report?
5. How much prednisone are you on? and since how long? Why did they start it?
Please get back to me, I am awaiting your reply
Regards

the pain in my chest is aching most of the time, unless I try to stand up or speak loudly or sneeze kr breathe deep... then it's stabbing. it is on the left rib, under my left breast. I have not noticed a fever just exhaustion and pain. the cough is gone. I saw a pulmonologist who wants to to do a lung function test. the ct results show renal vein entrapment possible nutcracker syndrome. they also said rare centimeter blebs in the posterior right upper lobe apical posterior segment....
Brief Answer:
Get a cect Chest
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back, I am sorry for the short delay in my reply
The pulmonary function test will not answer why you have pain, it will only tell whether or not your lungs are functioning well.
I suggest you to get a contrast enhanced ct of the chest instead. The pain which you are describing is typically coming from the pleura ( lining of the lung) , it could be that the bleb is causing some king of pleural irritation and it will need draining.
Here are some suggestions
1. Tab tramadol is an opiod analgesic, it is a strong painkiller and it will help reduce pain. It can be taken three times a day. However it has issues of dependability
2. sleep on the same side of the pain will reduce the pain
3. Try not to exercise or exert until you get the bleb sorted out. Blebs can sometimes give away
4. approach a cardio thoracic surgeon rather than a pulmonologist
I hope I was of help, I am once again sorry for the delay
Regards

the pulmonologist wants to do a repeat chest ct in August. I just want to know why all of this is happening. I have so many odd symptoms and am so confused! I'm taking norco now and they said no more steroids since I was on them for 30 days. I've been off of them two weeks now and notice no difference.
Brief Answer:
Ct chest
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back
I don't think steroids will help reduce the pain. I think the only way is to get the ct chest and get the bleb removed. If ct is getting delayed i recommend ultrasound of the chest instead
