Question: Hi,

I am from XXXXXXX I have been having nagging pain in my back for past sime months and had many visits to doctors to relieve the same but to no oleffect. Then one of the doctors I was referred told me do an MRI and as he predicted it showed Spine TB in very preliminary stage. I had past history of lung TB. I also underwent CT needle biopsy but those reports showed negative including blood and sputum tests. A RE-MRI again showed TB as most likely organism. I have been put on anti tb medicines but the pain shoots up at night. I am avoiding pain killers and only take when it is unbearable. Currently suggested Volitra for pain relief and IFT physiotherapy. It the treatment on right path ? What position is best sleep? I have purchased ORTHO bed.

Brief Answer:
Yes, volitra and IFT physiotherapy are right treatment for such pain.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.

As far as pain is concerned volitra and IFT physiotherapy are right treatment.
Avoid sudden bending down. Avoid jerky movements of body.
Sit with proper back and chest support.
Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
Avoid bad postures in sleep. You should sleep in supine position (on your back).
Apply ice packs on affected areas.
All the above mentioned things will help you more in pain management.
The core of spine tb treatment lies in its management (anti tubercular drugs).
You should follow correct medicines for faster relief.
May I ask you few more questions about your spinal tb treatment?

I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health.
Thanks.

WHAT OTHER THINGS DO YOU SUGGEST? MY MAIN ISSUE IS SLEEPING IN NIGHT DUE TO PAIN. ALSO IS IT AN ISSUE IF I TAKE PAIN KILLERS ON A REGULAR BASIS TILL THE PAIN SUBSIDES.(1 tablet of EZACT MR 60 morning and night)

Brief Answer:
You should first loose your weight.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
First of all, you should loose your weight by strict dieting.
This will give you more pain relief.
And you should take all anti tubercular Drugs together, not like morning, evening.
Best results are see when all TB drugs are taken together.
Orthopedic doctors don't know this fact.
Are you consulting orthopedic doctor only?
Usually, it takes 6-8 weeks for pain relief.
Ice pack application, physiotherapy, weight reduction and volitra are sufficient for pain management.
You can take painkiller drug occasionally (not daily), once or twice a week.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
