Brief Answer:
Varicose veins can cause pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have seen many cases of Varicose veins with pain in the lower limb.
Blood clots in the vein can also cause pain , but it is associated with swelling of the corresponding lower limb.
Colour doppler of the lower limb will give a clue.
If there is blood clot, medicines have to be taken to dissolve the clot.
If only Superficial varicose veins are dilated, surgery /laser treatment has to be taken.
If both superficial and deep veins are normal, then the pain could be due to nerve.
Please consult a General surgeon/Vascular surgeon, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
Please keep the limb in elevated position. I prescribe Pain killer tablet twice daily to my patients till investigations.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
