Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain On Side Of Head
Migraine or Trigeminal Neuralgia
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
There are two possibilities in such case:
1. Migraine Headache
2. Trigeminal Neuralgia.
Migraine headaches are usually on one side of head, and have throbbing, vomiting sensations, irritability, photophobia and phonophobia.
Trigeminal neuralgia is a disorder characterized by episodes of pain in the distribution of trigeminal nerve, as in your case.
You should see your doctor, if he feels that this is Migraine he will treat you with Sumitriptan, Propanolol, Flunarizine.
If he feels, this is due to Trigeminal Neuralgia,he will start you on drugs like Carbamazepine and Pregabalin for the effect. It usually take 7-15 days to show it's effect.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
