Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
The need for steroids is not clear to me. Do you suffer from asthma?
The pain of pleuritis would increase with taking in a deep breath, not on walking or sitting. Such pain is more likely to due to a pinched nerve that goes from the spine to the front ( intercostal nerve).
Also it would be good to have your vitamin D level checked. If you have been on steroids for long, it can also produce thinning of your bones.
This is often due to a prolapsed disc due to spondylosis of the vertebrae.
Gabapentin at bed time, in small doses to start with will help relieve the pain. This is a prescription medication and you could discuss it with your doctor.
Do get back to me with further queries.
