Suggest Treatment For Severe Pelvic Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: I have been having pelvic pain for 7 months. The pain is vaginal and in the perineum area. I have had a sonogram that came back normal, normal pap smear and multiple pelvic exams. The pelvic exams usually show either bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection or both. One time, they found e-coli. The pelvic test is othwerwise normal from an exam perspective (look and feel).

Yesterday i went to a GI doctor to ensure isnt wasnt gastro/rectal. The exam came back normal.

To my question, could there be something serious going on that they are missing (eg cancer?). When i read online, it says that vaginal/vulvodyna pain is likely from the infections. The pain in the perineum which extends to inner thigh, is also likely from the infections. Would you agree? could it be anything else that they just arent seeing?

Brief Answer:
There is no possibility of cancer of any pelvic organ.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for your query .

Based on the facts that you have narrated In absence of any positive clinical finding and positive evidence of bacterial vaginal infection the chronic pain in pelvis and perineum that you have is mostly due to Chronic Pelvic Infection which is very common in females .

I would suggest you to get following basic tests done to help to establish and confirm diagnosis
1) Urine routine and culture
2) Culture and sensitivity of vaginal secretion.
3) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and Pelvis .

Taking appropriate antibiotic as per culture report should help to resolve your symptoms .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
