Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat And Acid Reflux

I have had a bad sore throat since saturday, now my suspicion is that it is caused from acid reflux because of some upset stomach and reflux burping that I was having and I started back up on my Zantac 150mg twice daily but it still hurts quite a bit. How can I tell what the cause of the sore throat is it just doesn't feel like it's from a cold and usually it gets better after a day or so but it seems to have gotten worse? What else can I try to do would gargling betadine sore throat gargle or salt water be worth trying just in case even if it was from acid burn?
Kind Regards,
Daniel
Supportive care
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. With history of acid reflux , sore throat is likely a sequelae of this acid reflux . Modifying diet lifestyle, using antacids compliantly and supportively caring for throat will help. If there is no fever or recent cold or flu , then no need to get swabs to rule out strept or any other bacterial infection.
Modifying GERD is first priority, eat small frequent meals, avoid spices, chocolates, dairy products, fatty foods, processed & canned foods, vinegar , alcohol, beverages, tea & coffee etc. Delay lying down after meal for 3 hours and keep head side of the bed elevated at least by 8 inches.
Try salt water garlic water mouth gargles, throat lozenges can be used, drink plenty of fluids, rest your throat , honey mixed with herbal tea will comfort and sooth the sore throat symptoms. If the issue persist consult a local physician or otolaryngologist and let them help.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
