Question: I have been ill since last Thursday with a severe (really) severe sore throat; can't talk, very painful to swallow, unable to get into a doc because of the holidays. Hurts more on left side of throat and up into ear

Sore throat can be due to bacterial infections. You can do salt water gargle twice daily for 4 days.
Drink plenty of fluids at least 4-5liters per day.
Take Tab Roxid twice daily for 4 days,but get prescription for this drug from a physician.
Avoid yogurt and citrus fruits.
