Suggest Treatment For Severe Throat Pain And Cough

Question: I woke up with an intense pain and cough coming from my throat. An hour later it still hurts when I cough slightly and hurts when I breathe in my throat. I took a Pepcid Complete upon waking but it still hurts. IT hurts even when I try clearing my throat.

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

From your description it seems you could be coming down with a throat infection. Do you have any fever also? You may need a course of antibiotics along with a pain killer and a loratidin or cetrizine. Consult your PCP for the antibiotics and itscdoses. Continue taking pepcid because acid reflux can make it worse. Do some warm saline water gargles and take warm liquids. You will be alright soon.
