Suggest Treatment For Severe Underarm Itching

Question : He is itching all over especially under his arms but with no redness or skin out breaks present! Medication is as follows.
Exelondis patch- he is not itching on or at the patch sights
Namenda
Quetiapine
Duloxetine
Prazisin
Could any of these medication be causing this problem!

Brief Answer:
These medications are NOT responsible for the itching.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

I understand your concern.

None of the drugs mentioned cause itching as their predominant side effect.

So you can rule out this possibility.

An infectious fungal agent can sometimes be responsible for rash under arm pits in the elderly age group with Dementia.Also allergic rash can be common.

Hence a single dose of antifungal agents like Fluconazole and short course of antiallergic drugs like Cetrizine will help to tide over the itching.

Please note these drugs have to strictly taken under medical prescription.
