Suggest Treatment For Severe Vaginal Itching
I have terrible vaginal itching for the past two weeks . Inspire of using Vagisil cream no big improvement .
I don't have any bad odor or vaginal discharge . I tried taking AZO yeast tablet for a week but as soon I felt better I stopped but now again I'm having terrible itching .
Last month I underwent a small medication for a tic infection in leg which got spread all over my body so my doctor adviced me to take Doxycyclin tablet for a month. Now I'm completely recovered . I doubt because of this prolonged intake of antibiotic I'm facing this itching?
Can take any probiotic supplement to balance this ?
Thanks !!
Azo and Vagisil do not cure yeast infections
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
You are correct that the doxycycline you were taking for your skin probably caused you to develop a yeast infection. The antibiotics can kill the "good" bacteria in your vagina that keep the yeast at bay.
Unfortunately, despite its name, Vagisil is not a treatment for a real vaginal infection. It may help the itching, but there is no ingredient in Vagisil that is antifungal. Azo yeast is also a homeopathic remedy that does not actually kill the yeast.
The proper medications needed to treat a vaginal yeast infection have -azole in the name of the active ingredient. Some examples are Miconazole (Monistat), Clotrimazole, and Terconazole. Theae products are sold as creams and suppositories. I recommend using a product that is designed for use at least for 3 days- the one day treatments don't usually work for a longstanding infection.
Oral probiotics can help restore the bacteria count in the vagina but they alone will not cure a yeast infection. Lactobacillis is the species of bacteria that is normally found in the healthy vagina. You can buy yogurt culture led with Lactobacillis or oral dried supplements also exist.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful. If you need anything further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dr. Brown

I would recommend you take the 200 mg tablet
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Fluconazole is effective in the 200 mg one dose regimen however it takes a week to clear the infection completely. You will get faster relief from a vaginal product.
You may want to purchase a vaginal cream but just apply it to the outside where it itches for temporary relief until the pill begins to work.
I hope you feel better soon!
Sincerely,
Dr. Brown
As per your suggestion I used monistat and feeling far better . The Fluconozole tablet is not available on over counter so can you please mail me the prescription so that I can get is as soon as possible ?
Many Thanks !!

I cannot prescribe medications for patients through this website
Detailed Answer:
I apologize, but I cannot directly treat patients through this website- it is for medical advice only. Please look at the terms and conditions for healthcaremagic.com This is also an international website. Fluconazole is available over the counter in some countries, but not in the United States.
You will need to contact a local physician for a prescription for Fluconazole. However, the over-the-counter products are just as effective as the prescription treatments, however. I recommend a three to seven day product over one day treatments as i have seen many patients whose symptoms recur after only using a one day treatment.
I am sorry if it can't be of further help, but I assure you the over-the counter products should alleviate your symptoms.
Take care,
Dr. Brown
