Other than steroid we can use:

1) Anti histamins.
2) Mast cell stabilizers.
3) Other type of steroids.
4) Allergy vaccination

Steroids are very very effective in suppresing the allergy but if you have side effects there is always an option to change the kind of steroid you are using may be other steroid wont have that side effect.

You can try using antihistamin alon and you can alos visit an allergy center to try out different novel methods tk control allergy like allergy vaccine or gradual exposure of allergen.
