Suggest Treatment For Shin And Calf Pain

Question: Is there ever pain in the shin with Peripheral vascular disease? My pain is most obvious when climbing stairs, but sometimes I have pain in my calf but more often in my shin on my left leg only. I do not have pain in my hip but I can feel it when climbing stairs. I have pain when I lie down if my good leg is on top of the afflicted leg. My doctor said I most likely have bursitis or tendonitis and a chiropractor said I have sacroiliac but I believe both are wrong. No xrays have been taken. Please help me. Pain stops when I get to top of stairs. I can not put weight on left leg while climbing. Pain doesn't occur going down steps. Never have pain when sitting but have a lot of pain when first standing after having been seated for quite a while
Brief Answer:
Arteries narrowing due to atherosclerosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Shin and calf pain are quite characteristic for chronic arterial disease (atherosclerosis). When the blood supply to the specific area is not sufficient (calf, shin), it results with the pain. It appears during the walking so you have to stop and wait (the pain is gone when resting). This is very characteristic.
Your leg may become cold or less warm than the other one (please compare).
For sure you need Dopplers arteries ultrasound to confirm it.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
