Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Meprobamate
Question: I told you that I took psychiatric drugs for over 20 years and went off of them because of bad side affects. I did not consult the doctor. not gaining weight shacking, can't hear to well etc. I have no cough or chest pain. Will these side affects ever go away.
Brief Answer:
Consultation
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
It is highly unusual that any side effects experienced because of psychiatric drugs would ever last more than a few months after stopping them. This is because the drug leaves your body and your brain resets in a number of weeks. It is probably coincidental that you are experiencing things like hearing loss, which psychiatric drugs do not cause anyway. Which drugs were you taking?

dalmane, meprobamate, trasadone
I know you said the side affects would only last a couple of months, but it has been 10 months and I am still experiencing side affects and I told you. The drugs I was taking were dalmane, meprobamate and trasdone.

Brief Answer:
Followup
Detailed Answer:
Dalmane is a benzodiazepine and in the specific case of benzodiazepines, withdrawal effects can indeed last many months if you stop them suddenly without consulting a doctor. You need to speak to a doctor about restarting a benzodiazepine and then SLOWLY tapering off of it to avoid prolonged withdrawal. This needs to be done very carefully.
