Suggest Treatment For Sinus And Ear Infection
my teenager came home with a bad bug; an ear and sinus infection and gave it to me; when I started getting symptoms
I took old medicine for "2 days" originally prescribe to me OMNICEF (cefdinir) capsules 500mg - I did not feel better
I switch to the medicine the doctor gave my daughter amoxicillin 500mg for "3 days"
- I was feel ok but still runny nose and pressure and overall not myself
I went to my doctor; BUT I did not tell him I had taken other medicine I was embarrassed
My doctor said your ear is NOT broken but you are congested and ears are slight pink - take Zertec Allergy Medicine ...but in my rush to get better because I am flying soon (in one week)
I switch again to some old medicine prescribe to me a 1 year ago amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 875 mg/125 mg - capsule, Augmentin and "2 days"
still have slightly swollen lymph under my throat, no fever, little pain when I swallow, some pressure in my nose, runny nose, and sinus pressure and ear pain and tired
I know I did a very bad things switching it was dumb and I feel embarrassed and stupid about what I did and don't know what to do now???
I am worried I am creating a bacteria resistant and that I will get very sick
and I want to get better - right now in north of California everyone is walking around with this bad cold, sinus ... what should I do?
continue augmentin
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
As per your clinical details, current medication (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 875 mg/125 mg) is the best antibiotic for your ENT problem.
Now, please do not change the antibiotic. it has to be taken twice daily, for 7-10 days. With that, I also recommend you to take that anti-allergic medication (zyrtec) and simple paracetamol 500 mg twice daily as a pain killer for ear pain.
Meantime, protect your ear (plug it with cotton,to prevent water entering during bath), avoid consuming freezer products (curd/ice cream), do steam inhalation twice daily.
Do not worry, you are on right medications.
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
All the best.
