Suggest Treatment For Sinus Wall Rupture And Teeth Pain After Injury

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Dec 2015
Question: I had suffered an accident back in XXXXXXX 2014 where I had injury on my face. The doctor said that the Sinus wall was ruptured on the left cheek. Since then there has been a regular and intermittent pain on my left cheek and 3 teeth on the left side. This happens every 4-5 days and when that happens that becomes quite unbearable. I have visited at least 4 doctors in XXXXXXX and all said that it would be OK post 6-8 months of the accident. But now its around 18 months and the problem still persists. The doctors had advised me to take pain killers whenever the pain occurs. But taking too much pain killers like this might cause serious long term damage. The doctor had advised to have a root canal for those 3 teeth post 6 months which I haven't done till now. Can that be a reason for the pain ?? Still I am taking those pain killer when the pain occurs. Please let me know what are the next steps ??

Brief Answer:
There is a possibility of injured and inflamed nerves of the teeth..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that along with sinus wall fracture there has been injury to the roots of teeth that lies in close proximity of the sinus and there might be root fractures leading to severe pain.
If there are no fractures in roots of teeth and nerves are inflamed then Root Canal Treatment can definitely help as then the teeth will not hurt..
But to confirm this you should consult an Endodontist and get evaluated and he can very confirm the cause by taking x rays of teeth and ruling out for defects in teeth..

Other thing is that due to fracture in the sinus wall the bony fragments might have got displaced which can also lead to sinus inflammation causing Chronic Sinusitis and it can also cause pain..
The bony fragments then needs to be surgically replaced in position and should be kept in position using titanium plates.
You should consult an Oral Surgeon or an ENT Surgeon and get evaluated and if required surgical treatment can be done..
But first of all you should consult an Endodontist and get Root Canal Treatment done and if even after that pain does not subside surgical treatment of the sinuses can be looked for.

If pain is severe painkillers like TRAMADOL that can relieve severe pain can taken.

Any further questions are welcome..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
