Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this persistent cough that you have described. From the information you have provided, this cough is most likely not caused by an infection. This is why antibiotics would not be very helpful here. The most common causes of chronic, persistent and irritative cough are GERD, postnasal drip and medications. Going through this list of possible causes, GERD seems to be the most likely culprit here.
How well have your symptoms of GERD been managed? Do you still feel like you are having issues with this? When was the last time your treatment was reviewed? I think it is about time you get this looked into. If the cough is more common in the early hours of the morning or when you are sleeping, lean forward, etc, then this is the likely cause of the cough.
You have reasons to be concerned. For now, I will like to hear back from you on what you think about your GERD symptoms as this appears to be the most likely cause.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
However it is worse in am, at bedtime and when i lean forward.
Please, get your GERD treatment reviewed!

Hi and thanks for following up with me.
What aggravates this cough makes GERD a suspect. You may not report regular pain symptoms but chronic cough is one of the symptoms of GERD. This has to do more with the irritation from the food particles that reflux into the esophagus and throat than the acid. This is why being on omeprazole can mask the pain and not the irritation caused by the food particles.
Talk to your gastroenterologist about this.
I hope this helps and I wish you well.
I definately have head congestion as well so the post nasal drip doesnt help.
Is there any way to control the cough caused by gerd?
get treatment evaluated

Hi and thanks for following up.
Your beds to evaluate the entrance of the esophagus into the stomach. It may need surgery for proper control. Controlling the acidity alone is not enough as you can tell you still have worrisome cough symptoms.
Talk to them about this and let's hear what they say. Keep me posted. I wish you well.
