Suggest Treatment For Skin Rashes On Neck Caused By Sun Allergy

Posted on Fri, 12 Feb 2016
Question: Dear Doctor,
My wife, XXXXXXX Roy (age - 41) is suffering from some skin rashes on the neck. Normally she has a tendency of sun allergy for which she had been prescribed 'Flutivate' by a dermatologist. When the same is applied for 2-3 days, the sun-allergy related rashes get cured. But this time, although she was feeling that it is sun allergy and started using flutivate, the rashes did not subside. Then we tried using Soframycin and also 1/2 tablets of cetrizine. However the rashes are still not getting cured. It is now 4-5 days in the same condition and there is slight spread.

Kindly advise.
I am putting some photos for your understanding.
Thanks
XXXXXXX Roy

Brief Answer:
Contine Flutivate but add some antifungal like Clotrimazole

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query as well as the attached images. It does not seem to be due to sun allergy. Continue to apply Flutivate but stop applying Soframycin. Additionally use Candid (clotrimazole) lotion over the lesions. Ask her to continue to take cetirizine but one whole tablet a day.

I think the mentioned steps will help. Wait for a few more days. If it still does not get better, you would need to visit your dermatologist and let him take a closer look.

Dear Doctor,

Thanks for your response.

Please confirm whether Candid (B) lotion will do or some other formulation is required.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
No other medicine needed

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. If you use Candid B (contains beclomethasone along), you need not use Flutivate separately. Using Candid B alone should be enough. Other than cetirizine, no other medication needed at the moment. However, use of emollients like aloe vera lotion or any other moisturizer should help.

Regards
