Question: This question is regarding my Wife's Sleep disorder. Since last one month,
She finds it difficult to Sleep even when she is very tired. And if by chance, she goes into sleep, she tends to wake up again in few minutes and then again going back to sleep is very difficult. Overall Sleep average per day is around 3 to 4 hours only. and that too in early morning hours.
There is no tension or Worry in her mind. Please suggest some medication or a Specialist for this problem

Brief Answer:
Sleep disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Your wife seems to be having sleep disorder. Both initiation and maintenance of sleep are affected. This is usually treated with sleep hygiene. Medicines are only used for short term, lesser than 1 week.

Psychiatrists deal with this disorder but any doctor can give a prescription for sleep medicines. Sleep medicines are available only on prescription. Most of the sleep medicines can cause dependence i.e if used for long duration, will cause symptoms on withdrawal.

If she functions well during day despite the sleep issues, then medicine is not really needed. Yoga and meditation also help.
