This problem occurs numerous times before I am able to actually fall asleep for a significant duration.
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome back on HCM!
Your symptoms seem more likely to be related to increased anxiety.
The fact your unpleasant feelings subside after some deep breathing confirms that.
You need to modulate your stressful daily regimen and your sleep profile, by getting to bed at nearly the same time, not too late.
Avoid all stimulating drinks before going to sleep (cafeinated and energy drinks), try to relief your day stress by listening soft, relaxing music, watching a romantic or historical film on TV.
A walk in the park during the evening would improve further blood circulation, psychological conditions and decrease anxiety.
In nothing of the above measures doesn't succeed at improving your sleep disorder, then several medication options would be helpful.
Coming to this point, I would recommend Zolpidem 5 mg daily one hour before going to sleep for 1-2 weeks. It would induce a more physiological sleep, maintain better sleeping process and produce a kind of tranquillity after waking in the morning.
If the sleep disorder looks more severe, then other drugs like Lorazepam 2.5 mg before going to sleep would be helpful.
You need to discuss with your attending doctor on the above mentioned drug therapy if necessary.
I would like to assure you that not any cardiac issues seem to be responsible for your sleep disturbances.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further uncertainties, feel free to ask me again.
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
