Suggest Treatment For Slight Tremors And Forgetfulness

Question: I have been experiencing concentration problems. In doing repetitive tasks I run into a streak of 3-5 days wherein I will skip one of the steps I am required to do for work. This seems to occur every 3 months or so, and then clears up. It is, atm, greatly affecting job performance. 3 days ago I was notified of the initial problems, and have been (attempting) to be more alert/focused, yet for the following 2 days I am still incurring forgetfulness. I have a very slight tremor (familial, I believe, as my father had a tremor that grew as he aged), and wonder if it isnt related to this? ..I am otherwise healthy (stocky yet slightly overweight @ 5'4" 137 lbs. I am female, almost 62yo ) Do some bike riding but otherwise am quite sedentary. Recently my sleep is fitful (going to bed about 10pm waking at 6am for work and waking about 2-3 am and being up for 1-2 hrs about twice a week) Presently I am not keeping a regular schedule (heat/weather contributing to such). Would love advice on what I might try outside of a multitude of tests. Much appreciated. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
You require evaluation to exclude mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, we need to exclude mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This would require a detailed neuro-psychological evaluation. If MCI is confirmed, then, the cause would need to be identified. This would require a brain scan, preferably an MRI, vitamin B12 level and thyroid profile (blood tests).

Tremors seem to be familial tremors, and are not related to concentration/memory issues.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
