Suggest Treatment For Small, Hard And Pea Sized Lump

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Jan 2015
Question: I just found a small, very hard, pea sized lump in my neck, it moves when I swallow and seems attached to whatever that is that moves up and down in one's neck when one swallows. I have been having allergy problems and that side of my throat has been sore, along with my ear. I am seeing a neurologist next week, should I just have them feel it, or go see my General Practioner tomorrow or Monday?

Brief Answer:
Please, report to your neurologist and do not go int to see a doctor!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query,

I am so sorry to hear about this finding and all the disturbing thought that this has caused you. Lumps in the neck are most often related to infections. With you having had sore throat and ear pain, this is the most likely cause of the swollen lump. This is a lymph node that is capital in fighting infections. The size and the notion of recent allergies explains why and should not cause any further panic. This would likely get no further attention from the medical community.

I suggest you stay calm and report this to your neurologist next week. There is no emergency and this should be more for reassurances and not that for real we are scared of any terrible thing going on.

I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Thanks for using our services.
