Suggest Treatment For Sore Inside Nose

Question: Hello, I am a 37 year old female who is on Humira for Spondylitis and Crohn's Disease. For almost 2 weeks, I have been dealing with a sore inside my nose that will not heal. I have tried Neosporin ointment and also Zovirax ointment (since I often have cold sores on my lips). Neither of these seems to be helping to heal the sore. It usually scabs over and then will start bleeding again when I use a tissue inside my nose. The scab/crust is sometimes yellow. The sore is too far inside my nose so I can't get a picture of it.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

From what you are describing, it seems that the sores you feel inside your nose while having a personal history of frequent cold sores on lips is suggesting for possible viral sore (cold sore) which has been located inside your nose mucosa this time and not on your lips.

I advise not to scratch or remove the crust. Try to wash your nose with warm water and rinse with chamomile tea. After drying well, can apply Zovirax ointment.

If within a couple of weeks the sore won't heal, or will get worse, then, should consult with ENT specialist for further evaluations.
