Posted on Fri, 18 Nov 2016
Question: hi for the last 2 weeks I have been experiencing bad reflux in my throat. sore throat, burning in the throat etc. the first week I took somac once a day from a prescription from last year. then I saw the doctor because for the first time I felt reflux in my throat. the doctor gave me the following : nexium 20mg twice a day and domeperidone 10mg twice a day. I slowly started feeling better but something triggered yesterday and it flared up again.
apart from this my usual blood test last month revealed high LFT
27 BILIRUBIN
46 AST
56 ALT
It has been like this for a while so doc advised ultrasound which came back with fat in pancreas and liver. my stools have been yellow for a while. I am worried reading the internet if something is really bad. can you please advice and help. I am in AUS if that helps with numbers in the LFT readings

Brief Answer:
Please upload the LFT report

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through your query. Your problem has two parts. The first seems to be due to gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux.

In order to relieve yourself, you need to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake (if it a part of your habit).
* Take Prilosec (omeprazole) once daily before breakfast.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fibre intake.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* Take curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.

Speaking about the LFT, I would insist you to upload the report. The liver enzymes AST and ALT are fine.

Hope that helps.

Let me know if I could help further.

Brief Answer:
Check blood sugar

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I have checked the attached reports. They contain the findings and ultrasound details but not the parametric details of LFT. Anyway, the next step would be to get your blood sugar (fasting) checked. If the report is ok you need not worry, else you would have to be treated with antidiabetics.

It is very important to refrain from alcohol intake.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
No, you need not worry about yellow stools. If your blood sugar is normal you need not worry about the LFT or fatty changes in liver.
