![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have had a sore throat and bad cough for a couple of days now, but yesterday and this morning when blowing my nose my left ear popped and I got so dizzy I thought I was going to fall over and had to lean on something until my ear righted itself-just wondering if I the dizziness is a side affect of the cold or should I be more concerned?
Brief Answer:
Peripheral Vertigo.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
Yes after sore throat or Ear, nose or throat infection such drowsiness can occur specially after blowing nose so hard that can cause sudden irritation in ear drum.
This can actually precipitate vertigo.
Nothing to worry.
I would advise you following :
1. Steam inhalation.
2. Tablet Cinnarizine 25 mg twice a day.
3. Tablet Levocetrizine 5mg once a day.
Take these medicines for 3 days
You will get better.
In case you develop any double vision, slurring speech, visual problems you should consult your doctor.
If you have any further query please ask me.
Stay healthy
