Safe but meaningless and ineffective.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Most often sore throat is due to viral cause. Even if it is due to certain bacteria, irrespective of treatment with antibiotics it usually takes 5-7 days for recovery. So, antibiotics are meaningless to be given. I therefore do not feel that giving antibiotic after antibiotic has slightest justification, especially when the infection is suspected to be viral (antibiotics are ineffective in viral infections). I would insist you not to continue with the present doctor, if feasible.
Please be patient. Gurgling with lukewarm water is all you need to do. Continue to take levocet for a few more days. The sore throat should subside in a few days.
There is no recommendation of multivitamins being given in pregnancy. Rather, it is important to give calcium and iron supplements.
Azithral (Azithromycin) has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetotoxicity. Ceftas (cefixime) is pregnancy category B and is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Monocef-O (cefpodoxime) also has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of embryotoxicity or teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. However, all these are meaningless to be given.
