Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat While Breast Feeding

What cold and sore throat medication my wife can take while nursing our 8 month old kid.

Dear Friend.
Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.

I suppose she is suffering from Acute Upper respiratory Tract infection.
Before i advise you on medication, give me following details:
1. What actual problem is she having?
2. Running nose/ sneezing?
3. Any pain in throat?
4. Any fever?

Hi she is having slight sore throat but more of dryness in her throat ..no fever and no running nose or sneezing just slight blocked nose

Dear Friend.

I would advise following in such conditions:

1. Warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day

2. Steam Inhalation 3-4 times a day.

3. To consume lots of water, and hot fluids.

4. Anti Allergic medicine like Cetrizine can be used once day in breast feeding

5. In case she develops fever, Antibiotic like Cefixime 200 mg twice a day is safe in pregnancy.

Antibiotic should be avoided until and unless fever is there.
