Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat While On Benadryl

Posted on Mon, 28 Aug 2017
Question: Morning. Two symptoms which may or may not be related. Started a sore throat Tuesday evening. Mild discomfort on left side. No white patches - more like a thickening. Yesterday I developed a rash - hives - all over my body. Started in the chest and groin areas - weird. Took two doses of benadryl and used ice packs to cool skin. This worked somewhat. Still have faint rash. I have a few food allergies so original thought allergic reaction to something. Cannot find any visible bites. I was in Ecuador two weeks ago. Thanks for your assistance XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
good job with the Benadryl.

Detailed Answer:
Hi good job with the Benadryl.
I will advise the following--
Fexofenadine in morning
Benadryl at night
Omeprazole in the evening.
Gargle with alum water.
for 3-7 days
Yes it does seem a food allergy. Maybe you need to recall what set it off. Normally 2 weeks is too long. It should be something you ate about two days back.
You are welcome to revert back.
Regards
