Question: I had a horse pull away from me and the chain on the lead rope ripped through my hand. it tore skin around the nails on my pinky and middle finger. my ring finger is sore and swollen. has been that way all day. I can't bend it without pain. the end was always slightly crooked but it is a little more so now. I have iced and immobilized it. is there anything else I should do?

Brief Answer:
Soft tissue injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The injury on your hand seems to be a minor soft tissue injury. The pain on bending can be due to minor tendon injury. It is best to strap the two injured fingers together for support and immobilization. Applying ice will also help. It is likely to improve in next 48 hours. You can take a mild pain killer for relief.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Keep the hand elevated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The dark rings can be due to internal bleeding and hematoma formation. You can keep the hand elevated to keep the swelling down. Taking pain killer will also reduce inflammation thus reducing the swelling.
