Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: my son was working on barn and got a small splinter over the iris of his eye. It's mildly painful and his vision is blurry. His eyes are watering. Splinter is on lower part of iris. Should I go to E.R. immediately or wait to go to urgent care tomorrow?

Brief Answer:
You need to go to E.R. now only.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that your son is having a small splinter on the eye over the black portion.
This needs to be removed to prevent infection. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor from emergency department at the earliest without delaying.
As of now he needs to be on analgesic drugs and antibiotic eye drops.
Do consult your E.R. now for removal of that foreign body.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
