Suggest Treatment For Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma

Question: My mother has stage 3 Multiple Myeloma (61 yo, Caucasian, 5'6", 103#). Dx'd 15 mos ago after bout w/ pneumonia. Failed on Velcade, Failed on Revlimid. Now on Krypolis, but M-spike is still 5. Last GFR was 51% Needs blood transfusions often (4-7 units monthly) , pain is high (just finished palliative radiation to pelvis for pain mngmnt and hoping to steady her gait. Question- I'm having a hard time finding life expectancy info. This will impact decisions (should I go on FMLA now? etc) I understand that it varies and cannot be predicted down to the exact day, but some sort of time frame would be helpful. She is wasting away and in pain, its difficult to watch her suffer. I would like a XXXXXXX answer, her oncologist is sweet and keeps her hopeful, so I have not been able to inquire further with him.
Brief Answer:
median survival is between 23 to 29 months
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Sorry about your mom; I have read your query in detail.
According to Salmon-Durie staging system for MM, the median survival of Stage III patients is 23 months.
According to The International Staging System of the International Myeloma working Group, the median survival for stage III patients is 29 months.
Combining both, we could take the life expectancy or median survival as between 23 to 29 months.
Hope this helps you make important decisions.
