Brief Answer:
X-rays are the best option.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
1. X-rays are the best option.
2. It is possible that the stapler pin has caused an abrasion and passed through.
3. Usually a foreign body that passes through the upper end of the food pipe causes no problems aa this is the narrowest part of the gut. However if it is open, it is better to check with X-rays.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
