Question: Hi I had seizures in sleep 2 times in 2 months. MRI and EEG are normal. Had a tongue bite stiffening of hands and legs eye rolling and was unconscious. Right now I am taking tegretol 200 mg morning and evening. Will this remain in sleep or will happen in say time as well. My neurologist said I can drive but just wanted to take second opinion if I am going in the right direction. I have vit d deficiency for which I am taking supplements. Is there any link. We did not find the Cause. What could be the possibilities

Brief Answer:
You are on correct treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms, test reports and current medications.

You are on correct treatment.

Seizures in epilepsy may occur during daytime also. It is a matter of chance, whether they occur in sleep or while awake.

MRI brain and EEG may be normal in about 50% of epilepsy patients. So, there is nothing unusual in that.

Anti-epileptic medications should be continued for at least three years.

There is no correlation between vitamin D deficiency and seizures.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
