Suggest Treatment For Stiffness In Neck And Blurred Vision

Posted on Thu, 28 Jan 2016
Question: Hi, I have always suffered with stiff neck and back, along with other hard to explain symptoms which include what I can only describe as a deep spinal quiver or tremble.
I had a massage a few hours ago to my neck and head and have developed blurred vision. The onset was very sudden.
I also was told by a chiropractor years ago that I had some scar tissue in my neck possibly from a childhood injury.
Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Get xray and do physiotherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Neck stiffness in this age may be related to spondylosis or joint disorder like rheumatoid.
Are you having any hand joint pain, swelling, stiffness?
Is your visual blurring persistent or was present at the time of massage?
Neck manipulation by chiropractic person is not good and should be avoided.
As the vessel to brain supply goes through neck chances of vertebral artery dissection has been reported earlier.
Is there any severe neck pain present?
If no visual symptoms present now then nothing to worry but avoid such procedure in future.
For neck stiffness you should get atleast an Xray spine and take muscle relaxant. Physiotherapy under physiotherapist guidance will be good.
Child hood injury will be hard to be associated with present complains.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Brief Answer:
Take medication as advised with physiotherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
At present pain killers with muscle relaxant for a week and physiotherapy may be sufficient.
For hand pain, if associated with small joint of hand pain or stiffness or swelling then go for evaluation of rheumatoid arthritis.
Blood investigations like RA factor and anti CCP testing.
Xray cervical spine may be required.
