
Suggest Treatment For Stomach Aches And Pain

Question: Hi I have constant stomach aches and pains. I get a well balanced diet and take necessary laxatives when i'm constipated but the pain and throbbing in my stomach is consistent. I also have bloating and gas. I have tested positive for h-pylori and got treated last year. This year I TESTED NEGATIVE..... and the pain is not going away.

1. The pain occurs in my upper left abdomen.
2. Yes. When I'm hungry the pain is most severe. Like when I wake up or skip meals.
3. I do not have heartburn too often but occasionally I do experience heartburn.
4. I sleep enough. I toss and turn every night but I get enough hours about 7-9 per night.
5. I do not pass stools regularly, maybe 2-4 times a week. I strain quite often.

1 Acid Peptic disease
2. Underlying constipation
Constipation is likely to be due to
1. Decreased consumption of water
2. Less intake of fiber in diet
I would suggest you the following
1. Acid Suppressant like Pantoprozole will be helpful
2. For breakthrough pain you can take liquid antacid
3. Regular intake of meals in small quantities more frequently
4. Avoid spicy food
5. Avoid alcohol / carbonated / caffeinated beverage
6. Ensure good intake of water : 2 to 3 liter a day
7. High fiber diet : 2 servings of vegetable salad and 2 servings of fruits especially citrus fruit will ensure adequate intake of fiber
8. Laxatives like Lactulose will be helpful
9. Exercise and walking will help relieve stress and associated anxiety
