Kidney stones and their passage might cause increased C reactive protein
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. Though C reactive protein is primarily investigated keeping in mind heart conditions, there are many conditions causing inflammation in which there will be raised C reactive protein.
2. I am aware of a recent medical research on patients in your age group who had kidney stones and were also having increased C reactive protein. The study shows that and I quote "There exists a significant relationship between serum C-reactive protein and self-reported kidney stones in younger individuals."
3. There is another research study which says about passage of kidney stones and C reactive protein level above 10 mg/dL. Therefore your passage of renal stone might be related to increased C reactive protein.
Since your echo and cholesterol is normal therefore this is not an immediate concern. However regular heart evaluation is suggested as recommended by your cardiologist keeping in mind heart conditions in your family.
Hope your query is answered.
Please write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
