Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Mesenteric lymphadenitis has a presentation similar to acute appendicitis. Mesenteric lymphadinitis is mainly treated with antibiotics. The abdomen needs to be examined for signs of acute abdomen including tenderness, rigidity, guarding etc.
An ultrasound can be advised to look for enlarged mesenteric nodes. A CT may be advised instead of a sonogram. CBC, urinalysis and basic metabolic panel can also be done to rule out other causes for the pain. Treatment would depend upon the cause. The stomach or epigastric region pain is classically associated with GERD/ Gastritis or pancreatitis in severe cases, so it might be GERD especially if there was improvement with antacids and PPIs. However, i would advise not to take a chance and to take her to the hospital, immediately, to be on the safe side.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
