Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for your query for your Mother and an elucidate past and present history and the reports you have posted.
Noted everything in details.
The most probable cause of pain and black stools is bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.
Black stool (Malena) indicate that there is an active bleeding in high up the intestinal tract and indicated investigations, alteration of the medicines if your Doctors too think of it, and active treatment for the bleeding if found.
I would advise you to get her admitted in the hospital as she is a known asthmatic and needs monitoring as she will need following investigations and active treatment as may be found on clinical / physical examination by the treating Doctors.
Upper GI Endoscopy
Colonoscopy
Complete blood picture, bleeding time, clotting time, prothrombine time, liver function tests, kidney function tests and other relevant tests as may be needed.
Blood transfusion if required
Needs a multidisciplinary approach so that all the concerned Doctors discuss for the best possible results.

Capsule Endoscopy
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Yes, even Doctor would deny upper GI endoscopy if the patient is in asthmatic attack. Colonoscopy can be done anytime - asthma is no contraindication.
The other alternative is capsule endoscopy... you city needs the facility and is a bit costly affair. Please talk to your Gastroenterologist.
It is good that she is well settled on nebulizer.
first of all go for the tests of stool to confirm black stool is indeed due to bleeding. Add on Ranitidine / Pantoprazole, antacid gel, soft bland diet. this will help to control the gastritis which is one of the commonest reasons of GI bleeding.
