Question: I broke my pinky 6 weeks ago. It is still very swollen and crooked looking. The last appointment I had was 3 weeks ago, and I was told that the break should heal properly. When should I expect swelling to go down and for the finger to straighten? I can't straighten my finger yet.

Brief Answer:
Physiotherapy will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The swelling and crookness is due to stiffness and inflammation. This should have healed by now. A malunion of a broken phalanx may be possible. You need to get an X-ray done and if the healing is proper then doing a hot fomentation and gradual physiotherapy will help in decreasing the stiffness and swelling.
I hope this answers your query.
