Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Lump Like Feeling In Throat
I will add that the lump on the side of my throat is right below, or at the bottom of where my tonsil used to be{ before it's removal} and did not reduce in size after the prednisone therapy. It feels like a ball bearing is just under the skin in the{ muscle?} that goes up to my uvula . If I touch this lump, it turns lighter in color briefly before returning to its more normal color. It is very hard to see the lump because it is under the skin. It is very east for me to feel however, and I can slightly feel it into my ear, or what feels like a tiny bit of pressure? in my ear. { which may or may not be related to this} The [lingual tonsil?} swelling MAY have reduced in size somewhat, but it is hard to tell. I am concerned by all of this.
lingual tonsil
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to healthcaremagic,
The area at the back of the tongue where the tonsil meets your tongue is very bumpy and very irregular. It is the area of the lingual tonsils. The size of the lingual tonsil can wary on each side frequently one side being more enlarged than the other. The size of these tonsils can wary, some people can have large lingual tonsils whereas others can have very small tonsils. The size of the lingual tonsils should not be of concern until they start causing symptoms.
I do not think there is something seriously wrong, your doctor has seen with an endoscope, so chances of missing something is very remote . But if you feel that the lump is felt separately from the rest of the lingual tonsils and its consistency is different, then see your doctor again and insist on a biopsy or radiology.
The pressure that you are feeling in your ear when you probe this mass is because the Eustachian tube lies above it. These tubes open into the ear and hence when you probe the area, the pressure is felt in your ear.

hi , did not want to waste my third follow up question with this, but, are you still there?
follow your doctor's advice
Detailed Answer:
Hi and sorry for the delay,
Tonsils can grow back partly if they are not removed completely. But it would not be hard. A cyst in that place would be unlikely. Based on your description, the chances of it being cancer are exceedingly small. Since your doctor has already looked with an endoscope, and feels that you can wait then I would also advice you to wait for your scheduled appointment. Do not be worried.
I would recommend you to follow your doctor's advice. If he seems unconcerned then there is no reason for you to worry.

can be tumour
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
A hard mass felt in the tongue can be a benign or malignant tumour.
But do not come to conclusions before a doctor examines you again.
Your doctor does not suspect anything serious after examining you, so don't worry.
If you feel a hard mass then see your doctor again and have yourself examined again.

sorry, misread
Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
Yes, I have read the entire string again, and I am sorry I had misread earlier.
The hard mass that you are feeling is probably an elongated styloid process.
The styloid process gets elongated in some people, and it can be asymmetric, one side frequently being longer than the other.
It does not require any treatment, but clinical correlation is required. See an ENT specialist to confirm.
