Question: Blunt truma to the buttocks from a fall. I fell two weeks ago in the back yard and my left buttocks came in contact with the corner of a XXXXXXX that was on the ground I had immediate swelling numbness around the injury as well as bruising. Since then most of the bruising and numbness are gone however I still have significant swelling and pain that dose not seem to be subsiding. I have been icing and doing gentle massage but it doesn't seem to help. I am getting a little concerned that the swelling hasn't gone down. The size of the area is the circumference of a softball. Pls advise

Brief Answer:
It can be hematoma

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I think you are having collection of blood in the thigh. I would suggest you following.
1.Hot water fomentation
2.Tablet Brufen 400 mg twice daily.
3.if this swelling is not subsiding, then you can get needle aspiration of the swelling.
Blood absorption takes some time, it can be from few weeks to months. If even then this swelling is not getting reduce then you can get it removed through needle or surgery.
Thanks
