Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Mouth After Dental Extraction
Question: Hi Doctor, I had a tooth extracted yesterday (Wednesday) last night my throat began to bother me so I took two aspirins. I am taking Amoxicillin because of the tooth, but now my glands are swollen inside and out. The back of my mouth feels like it is closing up due to the swelling. I attempted to goggle with warm salt water but that made me gag. Should I go to the doctor or wait for the amoxicillin kicks in. I have taken three 500 mg capsules yesterday and I don't think I can get one down this morning. I also take lisinopril HCTZ 20-12.5. What should I do?XXXX
Brief Answer:
Consult dentist & get your medicines changed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in.
Even after taking 3 doses of amoxicillin you have not got relieved then in such case get your medicines changed after consulting your dentist.
In my opinion you should take diclofenac with serratopeptidase combination as analgesic rather than aspirin.
Warm saline gargles should be done 24 hrs after extraction.
Do cold fomentation with ice packs.
Hope I answered your query
Wishing you good health
