Posted on Mon, 30 Jan 2017
Question: I have recently had gastric sleeve surgery. ( 6 moths ago. Was 228. Now 165. ) Drinking a lot on protein. Within the last month or so my left knee has had to be drained 4 times so I could walk. I'm a 55 year old male who is active. I don't drink nor do I smoke the MRI of my left knee was negative for any defects. The blood test results show that I have some inflammatory process going on. WBC 13.7. Platelet 405. Gran 80.3 lymph 12.1. Eos 0.7. Number of gran 11. Mono 0.93. Baso .01 Sed rate 29. I have seen two orthopedic doctors who said the knee is fine. One in louisiana and one in new york. I just saw a Rheumatoid doctor thursday who said that my test for fluid in knee came back negative for gout and seudo gout He does not think its cancer Also the test came back negative for lyme disease. He has ordered more blood work. He seems stumped at this time. I had melanoma approx 5 years ago.(( In my chest. )). Had surgery at MD XXXXXXX I did not have to have chemo etc Did not get in lymph nodes. Also I have been diagnosised as having diverticulitis before the sleeve surgery. The Rheumadtoid Dr took me off anti inflammatorys bc he said they were too strong for my stomach/ sleeve. He said Monday he may try Celebrex with a purple ? Pill if i am not any better. Im worse. This morning I can barely walk. Left knee has fluid again ///. Back on the left knee to calf is very painful. I have lost thigh muscle above my knee. Now hurting all over Other joints are now hurting. Both shoulders and both hips ache/ hurt. Muscle aches everywhere. Like a flu muscle ache.

Brief Answer:
Enteropathic ARthritis

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Thank you for writing on health care magic

Well, The sort of pain and swelling you are experiencing in your knee goes more towards Enteropathic Arthritis. In other words, it can happen if there is inflammation in the intestine and even some cases are reported after bariatric surgery.... I would like to know a few more details before guiding you further:

1. Could you tell me how the color of the fluid has been

2. Any other complaints of back pain or neck pain

3. Was your knee injected with Steroid injection anytime or did they just remove fluid

4. What about other arthritis tessts like CRP, Rheumatoid Factor, Anti CCP antibody and HLA B 27....Has it been performed...??

5. ANy other joints whih has been affected

You are bound to loose the muscle if the swelling keeps happening at all times...It will restrict your activity. SO we need to find a solution for it
