Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Tongue And Tightness In Throat

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Oct 2016
Question: I am getting feeling of swelling in my tongue since many years, nobody could explain why. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago. I am on Levothyroxine 25mg daily since. I am still getting this feeling of swelling in my tongue, heaviness in jaws, tightness along my throat , and burning sensation typically along the throat, sometimes upperbody, like under the skin. Could that be side effects of Levothyroxine, or could you tell , what that could be? Would it help to switch to Synthroid? I am getting typically those feelings in the morning, after taking the Levothroxine, then working out about an hour./I do not eat until then/

Brief Answer:
A growth hormone overproduction may cause swelling of the tounge.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
the symptoms you described are not related to levothyroxine. It is a hormone that our body produces and does not have other additives that may give side effects.
I would suggest to check Growth hormone and IGF 1 level. The electrolites (calcium, magnesium, phosphate) would be of help to.
It will be a pleasure to help you after having the results.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
