Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Finger After Bee Sting

Question: i was stung with a black colored bee. probably a wasp on my middle finger of my right hand on Friday. My whole finger started to swell and the swelling has now progressed to my hand and continuing up my arm. Should i proceed to the er. My hand has been itching.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Your symptoms are due to acute allergic response due to bee bite. It usually takes few days to improve. If i were your treating dr then i would have advised following things:

- Cetirizine one at night for 3 days
- apply hot compression over the swelled area. It will give soothing effect.

Hopefully you will see improvement in 2-3 days BUT if condition remains same or aggravates then you need to visit hospital for i/v management.
