Suggest Treatment For Swellings Under Armpit

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Sep 2015
Question: I have these occasional bumps that appear under my armpit about once every 1-2 months. They are about the size of a marble and usually stay for about a week.

Is this something I should be concerned about??

Brief Answer:
No need to be worried

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details provided. The swellings you mention are likely to be enlarged lymph nodes. Lymph nodes get enlarged when there is some localized infection in the area which drains to the respective nodes. In your case, it seems that such a thing occurs due in infection involving the hair follicles and the glands at the base. It indicates that proper hygiene is perhaps not being maintained. Other than this I do not think that this is something worth being concerned.

Thank you for your advise :)

When you say improper hygiene, what do you mean?

I shower 1-2x a day, shave regularly and put organic, perfume-less deodorant on.

Is there anything else I can do that would help them not appear? Or is in internal? I have gained about 25 lbs in the last year so could that be what it is?

Brief Answer:
Get your thyroid profile checked

Detailed Answer:
What you mention seems adequate for maintenance of hygiene. But still, unless there is any localized infection, such a thing should not be recurring. You can get yourself checked by a doctor but I am not sure that he would find anything conclusive.

The weight gain however concerns me. I would suggest you to get your thyroid profile checked.
