Evaluation for generalised edema is needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for posting the concern in HCM. From your query I can make out that you have a significant weight gain along with bipedal edema. This is suggestive that due to some reason you have increased and abnormal collection of fluid outside your blood vessels.
Now, the cause need to be evaluated.
As you are a known alcoholic, your liver function may get deranged. Even a chronic kidney disease may also set in a known hypertensive patient with poor control. Cardiac activity and total albumin and A/G ratio also need to be checked.
I couldn't make out what is cardiac scan- It may be ECG, or echocardiography or something else.
So, I would order the following investigations:
Complete blood count, urea, creatinine, electrolytes, LFT
Echocardiography (if not done in last 6 months.)
USG whole abdomen
Urine RE
Colour doppler of lower limb blood vessels (both artery and vein).
You should continue taking antihypertensive and potassium supplement. Dose of lasix may need to be increased or torsemide (Dytor) may be started instead of lasix after consulting a local doctor.
You should consult your local physician at the earliest for a clinical evaluation too.
You may write back with reports for a more precise answer or advice.
Regards.
