Brief Answer:
Thyroid node is a node inside the thyroid gland.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health question. I read it carefully.

Lymph nodes are located in the neck, but thyroid nodes are located inside the thyroid.

So you have heard it well, they have most probably talked about a thyroid node. Now, a thyroid node can be hot and cold.

Hot ones, the ones who produce hormones, are the safe ones. So I believe in your daughter's case the nodule is hot, is producing hormones, and she is getting treated for it.

With the treatment they can reduce in size, so thats why your primary care doctor has to keep an eye on it. He can recommend Thyroid Ultrasounds from time to time to check if the size has changed.

You don't need to worry about it. Many people have thyroid nodes. As soon as it doesn't cause swallowing problems, voice changes, or is visible from outside, then you don't need to worry about.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

The nodule is not a thyroid nodule - it is a nodule located on a nearby lymph node 9X4X5 mm- hard. Nurse indicated most likely NOT associated with the thyroid issue .

Will need more information. For now think best is to follow up

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thank you for the extra information. Please if you have more information, feel free to give it to me if you want because in that way I can give a more accurate answer.
What type of exam your daughter did to know for sure that it is not in the thyroid? Please kindly upload the result in our system so I can explain it to you if any confusion.

In general other nodes, which are very rare, can be from structures in the neck, the nodule can be a cyst also, painful or not, and how do you know ot is not a lymphnode as well.

On another note, following the changes of it would be the best next step.

Kindly reply to me with some more information. For now, and with what I have, the above thoughts are what I think.

Regards
